I booked this hotel for my birthday and stayed with a few friends. I was supposed to stay there for two nights and the first night we all had such a bad sleep on the stiff, rock hard mattresses we decided to check out the next morning and see if they could move us to a different room or find a solution to the bedding, as none of us were prepared to sleep on them another night.

I called at 8am and spoke to the after hours staff and they were helpful, hoping that the hotel manager could find a solution. I didn't hear back from him so I called again at 10am, as we were all around the corner at the color run. Not only did he know about my complaint, not calling me back, he then refused to find a solution for the bedding or move us to a different room. I even offered that we could go from a 2 bed to a 1 bed. I then explained that my partner who was on cancer treatment was coming down for my birthday and I didn't want to subject him to such a bad night sleep and sore back. The property manager basically said "too bad, there's nothing I can do". Upset that this was his answer I asked if I could return the keys and get a refund for that one night stay so I could book elsewhere. He then refused this as well, saying that I booked online so too bad, that's his policy!

I called back in the afternoon to speak to the after hours staff again, in tears since it had ruined my birthday and the plans I had the next day. Also, because I had no idea when I could spend another weekend away with my partner, who is on cancer treatment. They were even apologetic and appalled and said to contact the hotel manager by email who was not only unhelpful and unreasonable he then tried to make me look untrustworthy saying my payment didn't go through multiple times. I called my bank and they said no, he only tried once when the system was offline due to being so early (on check in morning, Saturday) but there was only the one attempt, which went through at 9am that morning.

The other complaint I had with this hotel was that it smelt like they had just had the carpets cleaned, the perfume scent was so strong we had to open all of the windows and doors. They didn't include face washers or a hair dyer and basic essential items! The reason for not providing a hair dryer, even though they stated they did, was due to guests stealing them. This is a poor excuse considering I'm sure they are happy to take people's bond money to replace them!

I have made my complaint with the online company who I booked through. I have had no resolution from the hotel manager other than too bad, we are trying to run a business and can't accommodate people's needs. They claim their beds are 5 star, but after staying at over six different hotels this past year I have never slept on such a hard, uncomfortable bed. The complete lack of care from this hotel manager is what I am disgusted in the most. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone because when you pay for a service and are unhappy they should at least try and find a solution or offer a refund if they can't fix the problem and you're within your right to check out.

The worst part is that 'The Maldives' is directly across the road and is a beautiful hotel, with comfortable beds, kind staff members and lift access. It has the same self service accommodation and it was actually less money! If you're looking for a place to stay at Main Beach then stay there instead! If you need a 2 bedroom unit then take a blow up mattress to Maldives because it would be ten times more comfortable than the rock hard beds provided at Chidori Court!

WORST SERVICE EVER! I'm so appalled I've emailed to make a formal complaint with the ACCC!

Great location. The apartment itself was clean and the furniture was comfortable. It looked a little tired was all. I was a little disappointed in what was provided. For the price it would have been nice not to have paid for internet. Additionally, my understanding was that it was a serviced apartment. I wasn't expecting daily service but being provided with "essentials" on a daily basis would have been nice. So too being provided with handtowels. Overall, I would recommend, but not having reliable fast internet was a real turnoff, particularly when you have teenagers.
